Summary 🇬🇧

CONSOLE aims to investigate and further develop new contractual solutions for environment, nature and climate protection in agriculture. This training was organized to explain the CONSOLE project and to inform our members and our network about contractual solutions and lessons learned.
During the training contractual solutions concerning biodiversity and organic production will be presented to our members and other stakeholders. Lessons learnt during the life of the project will be explained. Testimonials from our members will also be presented. We hope the CONSOLE project will facilitate the accession of voluntary measures to improve the provision of public goods by agriculture.

A roadshow event with the aims to present the main results of the CONSOLE Project. At the same time there will be a visit to the CAB Massari located in Conselice (Ravenna), which engaged in the various agri-climate-environmental measures of rural development and investment measures for environmental purposes. This cooperative of farms is very interesting from the point of view of the CONSOLE project, given the excellent combination of commitments for the ecological endowment of agricultural ecosystems, with consequent benefits for biodiversity, useful arthropofauna and containment of phytopathogenic insects.

Questo evento ha lo scopo di presentare i principali risultati del Progetto CONSOLE. Contestualmente si terrà la visita presso la CAB Massari ubicata a Conselice (Ravenna), che aderisce su vaste superficie alle diverse misure agro-climatico-ambientali di sviluppo rurale (M10 e M11) e alle misure di investimento realizzate per fini ambientali. Questa realtà aziendale è molto interessante nell’ottica del progetto CONSOLE, vista l’ottima combinazione di impegni per la dotazione ecologica degli ecosistemi agricoli, con conseguenti vantaggi per la biodiversità, l’artropofauna utile e il contenimento di insetti fitopatogeni.

Presentation of CONSOLE’s findings in farmers taking part in Case study UK1 (South Pennines) of CONSOLE. Taking place in Hebden Bridge (within the case study location), it offers participants an opportunity to hear of contract solution options in similar settings across CONSOLE and discuss applicability of suggested AEPGs in their own context, as well as discussing potential differences with the findings of the national survey within CONSOLE for WP3.

Brussels sends to 19 countries its evaluation of National Strategic Plans of the CAP

At the end of last month, the European Commission (EC) sent its observations to 19 member countries on the National Strategic Plans drawn up to implement the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which will apply from 2023.

The comments for the adaptations of the National Strategic Plans were sent from Brussels to Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Portugal and Sweden, the countries that have presented their plans within the estimated period.

The letter focuses on the strengths and weaknesses of each plan, and suggests areas for improvement. The fact is that some member countries seem not to have complied with the environmental commitments of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), not reaching the necessary green transition (source: EURACTIV )

Let us remember that the objective of the EU countries is to “strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector“, “reduce its dependence on synthetic fertilizers“, “transform its production capacity by promoting more sustainable production methods” and” increase production of renewable energy”, which currently, due to the climate crisis and the consequences of the current war in Ukraine, is facing a great challenge.
