His primary research focuses on bio-economic modelling of the impacts of human interventions on ecosystem services in terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems. Previously, Silvestre has worked as a postdoc for three years in the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) in Spain, for two years at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom and for one year at Purdue University in the United States. He has participated in various research projects of the European Commission and has published more than 30 articles in scientific journals.
